Another great day in Jasper!
The trail system here is mapped, marked clearly, and well used by locals and tourists who actually get more than 250 metres from their cars or big rental RV's. In saying that we've been pretty much on our own aside from a few elk.
Travelling now before the summer crowds is a bonus!
Maligne Canyon
Very impressive! 6 bridges join the pathway to view the canyon. Accessible on foot. We tried to ride the first bit but stairs and my sister in my head saying "is this a good idea?" we did the right thing and pushed back up!
Luckily we spotted the bike symbol and sign to bridge 5. It was narrow and a little canted but on we went.
2 young Brits were coming our way so I asked how the trail to bridge 5 was. "Quite steep...you'd have to be good on your brakes. At least go to the lookout for the view"
Indeed a nice view!
Let's ride down to the bridge!
A few steep sections, but hey, we're from Whistler. We're doing what we do!
The sun was hot and the ride longer than expected (as usual) meant a dip in Annette Lake for both of us! Fresh but amazing!
Another goal, although a silly one, is to have a drink at each iconic Fairmont Hotel we pass.
Aah! Smoke on the Sunrise
(maybe not a great name considering the wild fires)
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Gorgeous!😊
But hey we are from Whistler 🙈. That canyon was spectacular and yes you timed it well no crowds , local’s always a delight to share space with. Enjoy whatever that road is going today.🙏
