Just an hour and a bit out of Thunder Bay lies the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.
Only planned a day trip but stayed the night. 'The Best' campsite 140A was available!
The lovely couple just leaving told me they've come for years and when it's available they take this site.
Shannon Robertson has written a book of Campfire Stories from North Western Ontario.
After chatting for a few minutes graciously gave Ma a copy.
Not only could we see the sleeping giant from our site, we were right on the edge of Marie Louise Lake and could watch kayakers paddle by and go in the water when ever we wanted.
A bike ride just a few km away to Silver Islet, the old silver mining village that the sleeping giant guards. It's a very quiet village that comes alive July 1 until September 30 give or take a few days.
A new marina is being finished
an old gas pump from days gone by
Some very old historical homes
Some built right up into the rock
Steps down to the water
The next day our bike ride took us on the Marie Louise Lake Road which was too long for such a hot day. Luckily we turned around and went swimming instead
Another day done
We loved Sleeping Giant Provincial Park
Steps and swings perfectly perfect, another park and day done.
