I guess Ma must have missed some history and geography classes. She seemed really surprised to learn all this area was part of the Northwest Territories. Yep google it...Alberta, Saskatchewan, part of Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec were all part of the NWT at one time.
Let's skip the history lesson and get on with some photos.
Ma had Anita to show her around. A local from Battleford born and raised. Anita was an excellent tour guide. Fun too! We stopped by to visit a friend Birtha. While her time in Battleford is shorter, her tales and history are long and interesting. An amazing artist, her 1905 home shows well her stained glass, mosaic works, paintings, and quilts.
The house Anita grew up in.
The water tower she used to climb
Some buildings still hanging in. Others skeletons from the past.
The 'grotto' on the ridge
Parts of the foundation, the chimney, and stairs is all that remains
